Characterization and Mapping of Public and Private Green Areas in the Municipality of Forlì (NE Italy) Using High-Resolution Images

Urban Green Spaces (UGS) contribute to the sustainable development of urban ecosystem, positively impacting quality life and providing ecosystem services social benefits inhabitants. For planning, mapping quantification UGS become crucial. So far, contribution private green spaces in areas has yet be studied. At same time, many Italian cities, they represent a considerable part cover. This study utilises methodological approach provides insights into public by consideration case area Northeast Italy. To achieve this goal, main steps were: (i) NDVI extraction from very high-resolution (20 cm) orthophotos, (ii) classification property status (iii) analysis degree greenness land cover units. From our results, total amount is 5.70 km2, which 72.1% (4.11 km2) private, 28.9% (1.59 public. As for cover, three classes were identified, highlighting different degrees homogeneity reflectance response within each unit. These results will support planning new post-epidemic National Recovery Resilience Plan.
